1. Our approach
We minimise data collection. No accounts required. Your pet's profile stays on your device unless you explicitly opt into sharing anonymous data.
2. What we process
2.1 Triage conversations (always, to provide the service). Your messages and your pet's profile are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate triage guidance. Not stored on our servers beyond the request. Anthropic's retention policy applies (see Anthropic Privacy Policy).
2.2 Anonymous analytics (only with consent). If you opt in, we store: a daily-rotating session hash, your country (from timezone), pet species/breed/age-bucket/weight-bucket/sex, symptoms extracted, triage outcome, red-flag matches. We do not store your name, exact age, medications free-text, or any persistent identifier.
2.3 Location (find-a-vet only). If you use find-a-vet, your browser sends your coordinates to our server to query Google Places. Not stored.
2.4 Device-local. Your pet profile lives in browser localStorage. We cannot access it; it stays on your device.
We do NOT collect: name, phone, payment details, persistent identifiers. If you opt to email yourself triage guidance, we store your email address with the guidance content.
3. Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR)
Triage: consent + legitimate interest. Analytics: explicit opt-in consent. Location: session-only consent for each query. Email recap: explicit consent at point of submission.
4. Your rights
Because we store only aggregate anonymous data not linked to you, we cannot look up "your" records. To stop future collection, clear browser storage. For email captures, contact hello@scope.vet to delete.
5. International transfers
Anthropic processes in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses. Google Places API is global.
6. Data sharing
If you opt into analytics, we may share or sell aggregate datasets (group-level statistics) with veterinary researchers, insurers, or authorities. Never individual rows. Never data that could be re-identified as yours.
7. Cookies
No tracking cookies, no third-party analytics, no ad pixels. Only localStorage for your pet profile.
8. Children
SCOPE is not intended for users under 18.
